THE FOUR DIRECTIONS - MEDICINE PLACE is an
instrument of artistry and science designed and built entirely by Sky David.
The purpose
of this device is to create a sacred space of healing in the
highest sense. Every aspect of the design was considered with the
utmost intention to achieve this purpose. The Padukwood and Rosewood
provide the resonance that make the Four Directions into a very high-frequency
harmonics musical instrument (like the resonance box of a fine string instrument).
The super conductive plate of precious metals that mark the “four directions”
is within a circle cut into the Padukwood. This plate is made
from a base of copper with layers of superconductors: Rhodium, silver,
titanium, niobium and a gold wafer in the center. The surfacing and
layering of these superconductors is done by hand so that each plate is
unique. These superconductors serve as energetic receivers and transmitters.
The harmonics emitted by the Four Directions - Medicine Place are created from the resonance of quartz crystal oscillator circuits that are played by the intelligence of a “Field Programmable Cell Array” from XILINX. Sky David created the software that is written and loaded into this chip. This XILINX chip is the central core that senses the energies in the environment in which the device resides and then chooses the most appropriate harmonics (overtones) to be created in order to clear the energy field of all disturbances. This has an entropy (a measure of disorder) lowering effect in the space. The radius of the field clearing effect is 30 to 50 feet from the center of the piece. A deep stillness or silence is created energetically in the space. Each of the sacred aspects of the “four directions” are honored. The XILINX Field Programmable Cell Array has been programmed to cause the chip to shift into an analogue mode. This is like putting the central core of the intelligence of the Four Directions into a “zero state”, making it very responsive to the living beings within it’s field as well as the energies in the environment. It senses - and then plays - the nine crystals in changing oscillation patterns. This creates a multitude of constant phase shifts that are all in a living relationship to the space and people in it. There is also a heartbeat program that has been written deep within the core of this Cell Array. The purpose is to give the piece a heartbeat that is at the deepest level of the Cell Array. This gives the device the ability to have a conscious relationship to those with whom it interacts. This is noticed by the user particularly in dreaming and meditative states.
